Little Black Gallery is a curated art and design gallery in Kerikeri, Bay of Islands, showcasing original New Zealand art, jewellery, ceramics, sculpture and thoughtfully made objects.
We are always interested in discovering artists whose work aligns with the gallery’s focus on originality, craftsmanship and pieces designed to be lived with and enjoyed.
Before Submitting
We recommend that you visit Little Black Gallery (as a visitor, not as a potential exhibitor) and/or follow us on Facebook and Instagram to familiarise yourself with the type of art we exhibit and sell.
This will help you understand our gallery style, the artists we represent and whether your work is likely to be a good fit before submitting.
Eligibility
We primarily represent contemporary New Zealand artists, designers and makers.
We welcome submissions across a range of mediums including:
- painting
- sculpture
- jewellery
- ceramics
- photography
- mixed media
- glass
How to Submit Your Work

We do not accept artist submissions via Facebook Messenger, Instagram or other social media channels.
Please include:
- Images - Clear, large, high-quality images of recent work with each piece labelled. Please do not send small thumbnails or low-resolution images.
- Artwork Details - Title, medium, dimensions and year created.
- Artist Statement - A short statement about your creative practice, inspiration and approach.
- Biography - A brief overview of your background, exhibitions, experience or relevant achievements.
- Presentation - Your submission should be well organised and professional. Please ensure all information requested above is included, with images clearly labelled and artwork details complete. Your submission should give us a clear understanding of your style, creative approach and the body of work you would like us to consider. Incomplete submissions may not be reviewed.
- Contact Details - Your name, phone number, email address and website or online portfolio if available.
Visiting the Gallery
Please do not bring artwork into the gallery without an appointment.
Unscheduled visits can interrupt gallery operations and do not allow us the time needed to properly consider your work.
If your submission is suitable, we may arrange a time to meet and view your work.
Review Process
We carefully review all submissions, however this may take some time.
Due to the number of enquiries we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback on every submission.
Expectations Upon Acceptance
If your work is selected, we will provide details on logistics, including commission, insurance, delivery, installation, presentation and promotional activities.
We work collaboratively with our artists and value clear communication throughout the preparation and duration of an exhibition or gallery representation.
Artists are expected to provide accurate artwork information and meet agreed timeframes.
