At The Little Black Gallery, we are dedicated to showcasing innovative and compelling art works in all media. If you are interested in exhibiting with us, please follow these guidelines to ensure your submission is reviewed efficiently and effectively.
Eligibility
- We primarily showcase contemporary art from New Zealand artists.
- We are open to all mediums including painting, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics, photography, and mixed media.
How to Submit Your Work
- Initial Contact:
- Preferred Method: Please initiate contact by sending an email to info@littleblackgallery.co.nz. We do not accept submissions via social media platforms like Facebook Messenger or Instagram.
- What to Include in Your Submission:
- Images: Attach high-resolution images of your recent works, preferably created within the last year. Each image should be clearly labelled.
- Artwork Details: For each piece, include a brief description, the medium used, dimensions, and year of creation.
- Artist Statement: Provide a brief artist statement that reflects your artistic practice and the themes you explore.
- Biography: Include a concise biography detailing your artistic background, education, and any previous exhibitions or recognitions.
- Contact Information: Ensure your submission includes your full name, address, telephone number, email address, and a link to your website or online portfolio, if available.
- Presentation:
- Your submission should be well-organized and professional. It should give a clear sense of your style and approach to art.
- Scheduling a Visit:
- Please do not visit the gallery without an appointment. Unscheduled visits can disrupt gallery operations. Once your submission is reviewed, we may invite you for a meeting to discuss your work in person.
- Review Process:
- Our review process can take several weeks. We appreciate your patience and will contact you once a decision has been made.
- Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to provide feedback on individual submissions unless a meeting is scheduled.
Expectations Upon Acceptance
- If your work is selected, we will provide details on logistics, including insurance, installation, and promotional activities.
- We work collaboratively with our artists and expect open communication throughout the preparation and duration of the exhibition.

- We recommend that you visit our gallery (as a visitor not potential exhibitor) and/or our website to familiarise yourself with the type of art we exhibit and sell. This will help you tailor your submission to better fit our gallery's style and audience.
