Venue 42 on KOAST - Tai Tokerau Art Trail
Northland has its own rhythm – a flow shaped by tides, wind, bush, and people. It’s in the call of the tui at dawn, the hush of ancient forests, the curve of the coastline, and the stories we tell through art.
Rhythm of the North is the theme for this year’s KOAST – Tai Tokerau Art Trail exhibition at Little Black Gallery, Kerikeri. Over Labour Weekend, our gallery will host a curated collection of works by a wide range of Northland artists, each responding to the natural energy and creative heartbeat of our region.
Expect to discover a vibrant mix of painting, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles and mixed media. Some works capture the sweeping drama of land and sea, others the quieter rhythms of daily life or the deep pulse of cultural identity. Together, they form a collective portrait of Tai Tokerau’s creativity – diverse, dynamic, and deeply rooted in place.
As one of the only galleries in Kerikeri dedicated to supporting local artists, Little Black Gallery is proud to be part of KOAST, one of the largest open art trails in New Zealand. For four days, visitors can experience art in its many forms, connect with the makers, and see how creativity is woven into the fabric of Northland life.
Whether you’re a seasoned art lover or simply curious, Rhythm of the North offers a chance to pause, connect, and experience the unique voices of our region. Come explore, take time with the art, and feel the rhythm of Northland for yourself.
