Vicki Comrie-Moore has been immersed in clay and sculpture from a young age. Her passion was sparked early on when she took a class with two established potters in Wellington — an experience that set her creative journey in motion.
As a child, when she wasn’t out riding her horse, she was sketching and dreaming up ways to bring her drawings to life in three-dimensional form. That instinct for shaping and storytelling through sculpture led her to begin exhibiting her work in 1999, gaining attention across the central North Island, particularly through Peter Reynolds Interiors in Rotorua.
As her popularity grew, Vicki began creating larger sculptural works and was invited to exhibit at the renowned Ellerslie Flower Show for two consecutive years. Her work attracted several commissions and was even featured on Maggie Barry’s Garden Show, marking a significant milestone in her career.
In 2009, while living in Dairy Flat with her sister and daughter, Vicki developed her now-iconic Party People garden stakes. Their quirky, joyful charm quickly resonated with the public, and soon she was touring the country with The Great New Zealand Craft Show. Since then, Party People have become beloved collector’s pieces.
Entirely self-taught, Vicki’s work is fun, bold, and unmistakably hers — bringing colour and character to gardens and homes throughout Aotearoa.
