Add a touch of pizazz and colour with this striking Rosa Drop Vase from Justin Culina. With a clean smooth form suggesting a drop of hot glass or liquid, this vase is an individual, handmade artwork that is sure to impress.
Justin Culina works overlooking the ocean, from which he finds endless inspiration for his fine art glass works. His portfolio ranges from ocean and nature inspired bowl forms, to complex vases, intricate platters, fluid knots and utilitarian drinkware.
"The fluidity of glass lends itself well to ocean forms, creating a natural relationship between my passion for the sea and my passion for hot glass. I feel it's important to work with the glass in a way that utilises the shapes that it naturally wants to assume, appreciating and working with the tendencies of the medium". Justin says.
At the core of Justin Culina’s practise is a passionate interest in incorporating ancient glass techniques in a contemporary manner. He first spent a number of years developing a skill set in these ancient techniques enabling him to push his designs in new and exciting ways.
His bowl and vase forms are wonderful examples of this, with their fluted edges that undulate and fold- these forms feel effortless and organic.
Justin Culina’s work is represented by art galleries throughout New Zealand and his work can be found in private collections in the US, UK, Japan, China, Canada, and Australia. He is a member of the NZ Society of Artists in Glass and the Glass Art Society (International).
